Job Description
The Janitorial Technician is responsible for maintaining the cleanliness, sanitation, and safety of the facility. This role involves performing a variety of cleaning and maintenance duties to ensure the building remains in pristine condition for employees, visitors, and customers. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, knowledgeable in chemical safety, and capable of performing physical tasks efficiently.
The Janitorial Technician will perform a variety of custodial duties for Vaakawi. Such responsibilities shall be in accordance with established standards, instructions, and procedures of Vaakawi.

Job Responsibilities
Key Responsibilities
- Sanitation & Cleaning: Clean and sanitize restrooms, break rooms, and common areas; restock supplies (paper towels, soap, toilet paper) as needed.
- Floor Care: Sweep, mop, vacuum, scrub, and wax floors using appropriate equipment and industrial cleaning solutions.
- Waste Management: Empty trash receptacles and recycling bins; transport waste to designated disposal areas.
- Surface Maintenance: Dust furniture, walls, machines, and equipment; clean windows and glass surfaces.
- Safety Compliance: Adhere to safety protocols regarding the use of chemical cleaners and power equipment; maintain knowledge of Safety Data Sheets (SDS).
- Facility Upkeep: Monitor the building for minor maintenance issues (e.g., burnt-out light bulbs, leaks) and report significant repairs to management.
Key Skills & Qualifications
- Physical Stamina: Ability to stand for long periods, lift heavy objects (up to 30-50 lbs), and operate heavy machinery (buffers, floor scrubbers).
- Attention to Detail: High standards for cleanliness and the ability to spot necessary repairs.
- Time Management: Ability to work independently and complete tasks within a scheduled shift.
- Technical Knowledge: Familiarity with cleaning chemicals, solvents, and safety regulations (OSHA).
