Job Description
The Multifamily Porter is responsible for the meticulous upkeep of the property’s grounds, amenities, and common areas. Acting as the "face" of the community's maintenance team, the Porter ensures that the property maintains high curb appeal by keeping exterior areas free of debris and interior amenities sanitized. This role is vital for resident satisfaction and retention, requiring daily outdoor work and interaction with tenants.
The Multifamily Porter will perform a variety of custodial duties for Vaakawi. Such responsibilities shall be in accordance with established standards, instructions, and procedures of Vaakawi.

Job Responsibilities
Core Responsibilities
- Curb Appeal & Grounds: Perform daily "trash pick" walks around the property perimeter, parking lots, and landscaping to remove litter and debris.
- Amenity Maintenance: Clean and arrange furniture in the pool area, wipe down equipment in the fitness center, and sanitize the leasing office/clubhouse.
- Breezeway Upkeep: Sweep, blow, or power wash stairwells, hallways, and breezeways to remove cobwebs, dust, and dirt.
- Waste Management: Monitor the central trash compactor or dumpsters to ensure the area is tidy; empty pet waste stations and refill doggy bags throughout the property.
- Make-Ready Support: Assist maintenance technicians by removing trash from vacant apartments ("trash-outs") and cleaning appliances to prepare units for new residents.
- Snow/Ice Removal: (Seasonal) Clear sidewalks and apply salt/ice melt to ensure resident safety during winter months.
Key Skills & Qualifications
- Weather Tolerance: Willingness to work outdoors in varying weather conditions (heat, rain, cold) for the majority of the shift.
- Customer Service: Friendly demeanor when encountering residents, dog walkers, and prospective tenants during rounds.
- Physical Endurance: Ability to climb multiple flights of stairs frequently (especially in garden-style walk-up apartments) and lift heavy trash bags.
- Eye for Detail: Ability to spot small aesthetic issues (e.g., a crooked sign, a piece of litter in a bush) that affect the property's image.
