(2)

The kitchen is the heart of the home, but it's also where some of the toughest grime takes hold. Splatters, spills, and baked-on food can quickly make your stove look less than appealing. But fear not! You don't need harsh chemicals or hours of scrubbing to get these essential appliances sparkling clean. With a few simple steps and common household items, Bacahui Services shows you how to bring back the shine.

Stove Top Sparkle: From Greasy to Gleaming
Whether you have a gas or electric stove, built-up grease and food residue are inevitable. Here’s how to tackle it:

DISCLAIMER: This guide involves high-risk materials that may cause severe injury. Proceed only if you have prior experience. We assume no liability for personal injury or property damage caused by following this guide.

What you'll need:

  • Dish soap
  • Baking soda
  • Warm water
  • Spray bottle (optional)
  • Sponge (non-abrasive for ceramic/glass tops)
  • Microfiber cloths
  • Old toothbrush or non-scratch scrubber for tough spots
  • Razor blade scraper (ONLY for ceramic/glass tops and with extreme care)

The process (see your stove type, down below):

For Gas Stovetops:

  1. Remove Grates & Burner Caps: Take off all removable parts. Soak grates and caps in hot, soapy water while you clean the rest. For really greasy grates, a baking soda paste can work wonders.
  2. Wipe Down: Use a damp, soapy cloth to wipe away loose crumbs and fresh spills.
  3. Baking Soda Power: Sprinkle baking soda generously over greasy areas. You can also make a paste with a little water and apply it to tough spots. Let it sit for 15-30 minutes.
  4. Scrub & Rinse: Use a damp sponge or scrubber to gently scrub the baking soda into the grime. The baking soda acts as a mild abrasive. Wipe clean with a damp cloth, rinsing frequently, until all residue is gone.
  5. Reassemble: Dry the grates and caps thoroughly before putting them back.

For Electric Coil Stovetops:

  1. Remove Coils & Drip Pans: Lift the coils (they usually unplug) and remove the drip pans underneath.
  2. Clean Drip Pans: Soak drip pans in hot, soapy water. For baked-on residue, baking soda and a non-scratch scrubber work well. You can also line drip pans with aluminum foil to make future clean-up easier (check your stove manual first!).
  3. Clean the Surface: Wipe down the main stovetop surface with soapy water, then rinse with a clean, damp cloth.
  4. Reassemble: Ensure coils and pans are completely dry before putting them back.

For Ceramic/Glass Stovetops:

  1. Cool Down: Ensure the stove is completely cool before cleaning.
  2. Loose Debris: Wipe away any loose crumbs or spills with a damp cloth.
  3. Baking Soda & Dish Soap: Sprinkle baking soda over the surface. Mix a few drops of dish soap with warm water in a spray bottle and lightly spray over the baking soda to dampen it, creating a paste.
  4. Let it Sit: Let this sit for 10-15 minutes to break down the grime.
  5. Wipe & Buff: Use a clean, damp cloth to gently scrub and wipe away the paste and grime. For stubborn, burnt-on spots, very carefully use a razor blade scraper held at a shallow angle, following the manufacturer’s instructions.
  6. Streak-Free Finish: Buff with a dry microfiber cloth for a sparkling, streak-free shine.

Regular maintenance is key to preventing major build-up. A quick wipe-down after each use will save you a lot of time and effort in the long run.
